Iraqi Kurdistan football team
The Kurdistan national football team (Arabic: فريق كردستان العراق لكرة القدم) is the representative football team of Iraqi Kurdistan. They are not affiliated with FIFA or Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and therefore cannot compete for the FIFA World Cup or the AFC Asian Cup. The Iraqi federation attended a meeting of the New Federation Board in June 2006[1] but did not become a member. A team representing Kurdistan lost a friendly match 3–0 to the Iraq U-23 national team.
The team played in the 2008 VIVA World Cup finishing in the 4th place after a 3–1 loss to Sápmi. Their first and only win to date came in that tournament in a match against Provence.
In December 2008, during 5th General Meeting, the Iraqi Kurdistan granted full membership to the NF Board and was a failed candidate to host the 2010 VIVA World Cup. They will organize the 2012 edition.
On September the first the Iraqi Kurdistan federation has sended more than 20 scouts over the world to search for Kurdish talents over the world. The search will mainly be focused on the lands Germany, France, Sweden, Netherlands and the United Kingdom but also in the United States and Turkey. Iraqi Kurdistan foreign football secretary Orkun Izzedin said For now the scouts will be sended to these countrys, But we hope to send a delegation of scouts at the end of January 2012 to other country's like Spain, Italy, Greece were many Kurdish refugee's live. We want to show that we have many good players not only here in Kurdistan but also abroad . Iraqi Kurdistan has planned 3 friendly matches which will be played in Zoetermeer against the Moluccan island, New Zealand and SV Argon.

The Kurdistan FA emblem was designed by Kurdish artist Rawand Sirwan Nawroly (Kurdish: رهوهند سیروان نهورڕۆڵی) based in London-UK in the year 2005. The emblem represents the Kurdistan flag colours, where the red represents the Kurdish Newroz fire. The yellow ball represents the Kurdish Sun and the green banner represents the Green Kurdistan scenery.
